The 22 churches in the Derby Circuit of the Methodist Church have arranged a ‘Mission Roadshow’ on Saturday May 7th 2011 at St John’s Methodist Church, Birchover Way, Allestree from 2-5 p.m.
This will be immediately followed by a service of celebration, when the guest preacher will be Rev’d Loraine Mellor, Chair of the Nottingham and Derby District of the Methodist Church.
Admission to the Roadshow is free and refreshments will be on sale.
This event will showcase the work being done by about 20 local, national and international charities, all of which are supported by the Derby churches as part of their ‘mission’ activity in helping other people. There will be opportunity to talk with the representatives of the organisations about their work to improve the lives of so many people in need.
These include: Aquabox, Fairtrade, Christian Aid, Derby Refugee Advice Centre, Highfields Happy Hens, The Derby Soup Run, Methodist Homes and Live at Home Scheme, Treetops Hospice, Mission Aviation Fellowship, Christian Aid, Honduras Trust, Kashmir Hospital, Educare/Phakamisa Project, Leprosy Mission and others.
